Thanks to a local weaver, Enger, a design was created for a harakeke plant guard that could be used to protect the native plants we put in the ground with the community.The goals of Interwoven are to:establish harakeke / flax as a sustainable and biodegradable material for plant guards used by Te Kākano and other providers of regenerative plantings on public land.authentically connect with tangata whenua, and honour the wealth mātauranga Māori offers for our future in Aotearoa New Zealandeducate and empower communities, especially young people, to source sustainable alternatives to plastic.This programme is made possible with thanks to the Warbirds over Wānaka Community Trust, Sargood Bequest, the Di Buchan Environmental Trust and Queenstown Lakes District Council.www.tekakano.org.nz"
