Bak platespelarane står gubbane Henrik, Kim og Sussebass, klare til å lose dykk gjennom ein kveld med variert musikk, dårlege vitsar og funfacts. Det blir mogleg å både bytte, selje og kjøpe plater, og Hovedbygda Platebar stiller med plater til sals!


Men ikkje nok med det! Ein av Noregs beste låtskrivarar, og ein av dei mest unike og morosame artistane: Egil Olsen tek turen innom. Egil har i ei årrekkje turnert landet rundt som Egil, men før den tid hadde han prosjektet Uncle’s Institution. Der gav han ut to plater, og i år har den eine plata jubileum! Walkie Talk To Me! feirar 20 år med rykande fersk vinylutgiving, og dette blir markert med eksklusiv platesignering og intim minikonsert på Studenthuset Rokken.

Som Uncle’s Institution gav eg ut to album på CD. Det første albumet blei gitt ut på vinyl i serien Norske albumklassikere. No må det andre albumet også på vinyl! Kan vi starte Norske albumfiaskoar, Christer Falck? Neida, eg likar denne plata veldig godt! Suksess!


Det er ei sprek og modig plate, frekk i både innhald og produksjon. Eg var spent på å gi ho ut, og kryssa fingrane for blanda mottaking. Etter kvart som terningane trilla, blei det faktisk ein straight! Ein solid toar i Dagbladet, som alle fekk med seg, litt trearar og firarar her og der, og i ny og ne ein liten femmar. Ei studentavis hadde berre omtale, ingen terning, men omtalen var full av eder og galle – ikkje om plata, men om meg. Eg tolka den som ein einar. Radio Bisexual på Myspace (jepp, 2005) kåra den til årets beste album og skreiv: “If you don't bob your head to this record, you're dead, and quite frankly, starting to smell!” (Høyrer du, Dagbladet?) Eg tolka den som ein seksar.


Hitsingelen Babe var både på radio, ZTV og Svisj, og blei omtalt som “ein av dei beste moderne poplåtane eg har høyrt!” av Spot.no. Like a Girl blei brukt i ein transdokumentar på NRK. Go4six (yeah yeah yeah!) er ein av mine favorittar på scena den dag i dag. Og Take the Ache er nyleg sampla og choppa til beats på den splitter nye Side Brok (feat. Egil Olsen)-låten Ny type tåre.
Walkie Talk To Me inkluderer livefavoritten Go4six (yeah! yeah! yeah!) og Take the Ache, som er sampla og legg grunnlaget for den nye Side Brok-låten Ny type tåre (feat. Egil Olsen). Plata kjem berre i 200 eksemplar, på 140g vinyl, med innerpose med lyrikk og kunst.

As Christmas approaches and the exam stress starts to fade, it’s the perfect time to bring some vinyl records down to the main hall at Rokken for Vinyl Night. Behind the turntables you’ll find the old boys Henrik, Kim, and Sussebass, ready to guide you through an evening of varied music, bad jokes, and fun facts. You’ll also have the chance to trade, sell, and buy records, and Hovedbygda Platebar will be there with vinyl for sale!


But that’s not all! One of Norway’s best songwriters, and one of the most unique and entertaining artists around: Egil Olsen is stopping by. Egil has spent many years touring the country as “Egil,” but before that he had the project Uncle’s Institution. They released two albums, and this year one of them celebrates its anniversary! Walkie Talk To Me! turns 20 and is being reissued on brand new vinyl. The occasion will be marked with an exclusive record signing and an intimate mini-concert at Studenthuset Rokken.

Walkie Talk To Me – 20 years!
As Uncle’s Institution I released two albums on CD. The first album was reissued on vinyl as part of the Norwegian Album Classics series. Now the second album also deserves a vinyl release! Can we start Norwegian Album Flops, Christer Falck? Just kidding — I really like this record! Success!


It’s a bold and lively album, cheeky in both content and production. I was excited — and a bit nervous — to release it, crossing my fingers for mixed reviews. As the dice rolled in, it actually landed a straight! A solid two in Dagbladet, which everyone noticed, a handful of threes and fours here and there, and occasionally a five. A student newspaper wrote a review without giving a score, but it was full of curses and complaints — not about the album, but about me. I interpreted that as a one. Radio Bisexual on Myspace (yep, 2005) named it album of the year and wrote: “If you don't bob your head to this record, you're dead, and quite frankly, starting to smell!” (Are you listening, Dagbladet?) I took that as a six.


The single Babe was played on radio, ZTV, and Svisj, and was described as “one of the best modern pop songs I’ve heard!” by Spot.no. Like a Girl was used in a trans documentary on NRK. Go4six (yeah yeah yeah!) is still one of my favourite songs to perform live. And Take the Ache was recently sampled and chopped into beats on the brand-new Side Brok (feat. Egil Olsen) track Ny type tåre. Walkie Talk To Me includes the live favourite Go4six (yeah! yeah! yeah!) and Take the Ache, which is sampled and forms the foundation of the new Side Brok song Ny type tåre (feat. Egil Olsen). The album is limited to just 200 copies on 140g vinyl, with an inner sleeve featuring lyrics and artwork.
