Kaweah Health is hosting a Cardiac Screening Event, open to the community, designed to help identify possible coronary artery disease before symptoms appear. Screenings Offered: 1. Calcium Scan: Pictures of your heart to check for calcium buildup in arteries 2. EKG (Electrocardiogram): Test that checks your heart's electrical activity for irregular heartbeats 3. Lipid Panel: Blood test that measures cholesterol and fats 4. Ultrasound Carotid Artery: Sound waves that check neck arteries for fatty deposits 5. Ultrasound of Main Abdominal Artery: An ultrasound wand that checks your abdominal aorta for life-threatening enlargements (aneurysms), which can rupture. These five screenings can give your doctor valuable insight to help reduce your risk of a heart attack and address other heart-related concerns. Take a proactive step for your heart this Heart Month. Appropriate modification of risk factors (including high blood pressure, smoking, heart disease, diabetes and poor diet) is also necessary for cardiovascular disease prevention. Our screening cannot detect all forms of stroke risk of cardiovascular disease. All tests are for screening purposes only. You should consult with your personal physician regarding your screening results. Kaweah Health Imaging and Breast Center does not provide referrals to physician groups or hospitals.
