Interwoven: Contrast Therapy for SOF Couples

SOF Couples are invited to join The Station Foundation in a session of Contrast Therapy. Sharing a new experience together is a great way to practice trust and connect with your partner. Exploring contrast therapy together is an opportunity to bond and share a very beneficial self care practice that requires mental fortitude, positive self talk, and perspective taking.

During this program, couples will be treated to a private suite that has a dry sauna and cold plunge pool. Couples will begin in the dry sauna (up to 165 degrees) for 10 minutes or longer and then contrast the heat with a soak in a cold plunge pool for 3-5 minutes. Couples may complete up to three full rounds of contrast therapy.

While in the hot sauna, participants' muscles will warm up and capillaries will open, and during the cold plunge, the capillaries will shrink or constrict. The contrast of hot and cold allows for beneficial recovery from workouts and muscle fatigue, leaving participants feeling relaxed and rested after a session.

This is a wonderful and unique way for couples to bond together and work through the warmth and heat of the sauna and encourage one another through the transition into the cold plunge. Participants can focus on their breath together, keep eye contact and encourage one another to sit in the challenge of the cold water. What a fun reward to tackle the physiological contrast of temperatures together and embrace the mental challenge as a couple.

Participants will be divided into two arrival groups, A & B. You will be notified of your arrival time two weeks before the program.

4:00 PM: Arrival and Check In for Group A
4:05 - 4:15 PM: Welcome and Program Overview
4:15 - 5:15 PM: Contrast Therapy (3 Couples/Group A)

5:00 PM: Arrival and Check In for Group B
5:15 - 5:30 PM: Welcome and Program Overview
5:30 - 6:30 PM: Contrast Therapy (3 Couples/ Group B)

Event Details:

No experience is necessary.
Please wear a swimsuit or appropriate swim clothing under comfortable clothes.
Bring a dry change of clothes.
Private changing rooms and cubbies are available to secure your belongings.

Please invite a friend within the Special Operations Community who is new to The Station.

When registering for an event, all required fields on the order form must be completed in entirety. Incomplete order forms will be canceled. Thank you for your understanding and helping us ensure event security and the highest quality experience possible.
