- **Event Description**: We invite you to the seminars on legal research methodology by Prof. Dr. Felix Steffek (Professor of Law at the University of Cambridge and Senior Member of Newnham College). The seminars are intended for academic staff and doctoral/master students. They will be held on 8 November (Saturday) in the room L-102 (MRU Research and Innovation Hive, Didlaukio g. 55, Vilnius).

 From 9:45 to 11:15 – seminar "Comparative Law Research Methods".

This seminar explores the use of comparative law as a research method. It provides an introduction to different types of comparisons and to essential approaches. For example, the tertium comparationis, i.e., the third element of a comparison, is discussed. The seminar also engages with the insights and limits of comparative law approaches.

 
From 11:30 to 13:00 – seminar "Artificial Intelligence and Legal Scholarship".

This session investigates the use of machine learning and natural language processing for legal scholarship. The following examples are explained and discussed: predicting court decisions, extracting legal information from

large legal datasets and the creation of legal datasets for AI-based  research. The session is also an opportunity to consider how AI impacts the creation and consumption of legal research.
