- **Event Description**: On June 12–13, 2025, the Faculty of Philosophy at Vilnius University will host the 22nd annual seminar of the International Network on Leave Policies and Research. This year’s theme is “Challenges for Parental Leave Policy and Social Sustainability.”

The conference will bring together researchers from over 20 countries around the world, including Canada, Japan, Australia, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Finland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, and others. Scholars will present their latest research on parental leave policy, work-family balance, social inclusion, gender equality, and will also discuss new theoretical and methodological approaches in the field.

The event is organized by Lithuanian researchers in collaboration with the coordinators of the international network. The opening of the conference will be attended by representatives from the government and ministries, as well as gender equality experts from EIGE (European Institute for Gender Equality). A plenary session will be dedicated to discussing the experiences of the Baltic States in this area.

“This is not only an academic event, but also an opportunity to reflect on how leave policies contribute to the sustainable development of societies and the reconciliation of professional and family roles in the context of gender equality,” says the conference chair, Associate Professor Dr. Rūta Brazienė.

The event will culminate in discussions on the impact of policy decisions on family life, the role of employers in implementing parental leave policies, and recent developments in the modern labor market.
