Neon lights, club beats, and a generation on edge collide.
A powerful and deeply moving play that sheds light on a pivotal chapter in our history, In My Day is set during the HIV/AIDS crisis in BC and celebrates the resilience of diverse communities who came together in extraordinary ways.
This verbatim theatre work is a large-scale production featuring a cast of nineteen, a cinematic set inspired by the curved wall of the Vancouver Public Library, and projections that bring many Vancouver locations to life. With 80s and 90s costumes, music, and visuals, the staging vividly captures the essence of the time.
Inspired by a University of Victoria oral history research project, it draws on interviews with survivors and caregivers from the first fifteen years of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, incorporating nearly one hundred real voices into the play.
