In the early 1970s, guided by elders and the mantra of “Indian Control of Indian Education,” the existing Day School was replaced by one of Canada’s first Indigenous-run school boards to protect children from assimilation and ensure their education was grounded in W̱SÁNEĆ language, culture, and values. Over time, the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board expanded to include SENĆOŦEN immersion and exposure programs from daycare and preschool to post-secondary, as well as the establishment of W̱SÁNEĆ College, creating a comprehensive education system that preserves language and culture while supporting academic success and strengthening community identity.Special guests include graduate representatives from the LENOṈET SCUL,ÁUTW - SENĆOŦEN Survival School and the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Secondary School. Please bring a cash donation in support of the LENOṈET SCULÁUTW̱ and W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Secondary School 2026 Graduates.Film duration: 1 hour 15 minutesRated: PGAgenda?: 06:00 PM - 06:30 PMDoors Open?: 06:30 PM - 08:15 PMEvent and Film Screening?: 08:15 PM - 08:30 PMPost-Film Discussion
