Ruth McNally Barshaw wrote and illustrated The Ellie McDoodle Diaries, six highly-illustrated middle grade novels for Bloomsbury. She illustrated picture books Grandpa Heaven and Grandma Heaven, middle grade novel There’s No Base Like Home and picture book Leopold the Lion, and wrote four short stories for Amazon Rapids, an app for reluctant young readers. She received her first perfect-bound sketch-journal from a prescient art teacher at age 15 and has been keeping journals ever since. She and author-husband Charlie travel widely to schools, libraries, bookstores, festivals, comic cons, and other events, teaching children, teens, and adults how to write stories.
