Three-Week Oil Painting Workshop: The Art of Texture - Caramel the Camel

Activity Name: Three-Week Expanding the Basics Oil Painting Workshop - Beginner Level 2

Class Dates: Wednesdays April 8 15 & 22 2026 from 5:30-8:30pm

Activity Description: Texture is a key element of art. This workshop will teach how texture can create a lovely feeling and interesting elements within an art piece which traditional detailed painting does not achieve. 

The instructor will introduce different tools and mediums that will help to create different textures and depth into the painting including ink pallet knives and brushes. Students will learn the art of working with oil mediums to thin the paint and how to create ashes and then layer paint over them. 

At the end of the workshop all students will have created a unique art piece on a 16x20 canvas. Please note that a box larger than 16x20 is required for the last session to transport the painting home while it is still wet. This workshop takes place once a week for three weeks as the painting is detailed and requires several sessions to complete. Each class is approximately 3 hours long. This is a total of 9 hours of instruction over the course of the workshop.

More Information: This is considered a level 2 beginner class. This level is perfect for beginner level painters wishing to advance and build upon what we teach in our one-day beginner level paint classes.  

Students will learn the fundamentals of painting and color blending and the basic skills needed to create an amazing painting guided by an experienced artist. This class expands on the fundamentals taught in our Back to the Basics level 1 classes allowing students to build their talents and create a beautiful piece of art.
