Step into history with our special event Civil War Train experience!
Join us for a captivating journey back in time as dedicated re-enactors don the iconic uniforms of the Blue and the Grey. Immerse yourself in their tent encampments on the museum grounds and soak up the atmosphere as they mingle around crackling open fires, transporting you to the heart of the Civil War era.
You might experience the thunderous roar of cannon firing demonstrations and or witness the romance of a Union soldier's wedding to a Southern belle. But beware - with tensions simmering, a thrilling skirmish may erupt along the tracks, so don't forget to bring your cameras to capture every moment!
Departures are available on Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 am and 2:30 pm, and on Sunday, September 14th at 2:30 pm. Boarding begins 30 minutes prior to each departure to ensure a prompt start to our adventure. Take advantage of the extra time to explore our museum exhibits and displays, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey through history.
During the ride, we'll make a special stop for you to disembark and marvel at the breathtaking views from Young's High Bridge, offering a stunning vista of the Kentucky River Palisades. Then, get ready for a thrilling reenactment as we journey back to Versailles.
We welcome guests of all abilities, with handicap accessible facilities and wheelchair-friendly coach cars.
Please note that restroom facilities are available at the museum station but NOT onboard the train itself. The journey will take between 90 minutes and two hours.
