Organized by Ad Maiora Association, Verona (Italy)

Laudato si’. Da Francesco a Francesco
Praise be to You, my Lord. From Francis to Francis
The beauty of the universe and the necessity to preserve life in all its forms are the themes chosen for the fifth international contest of Ad Maiora Association. Objective of the contest is to interpret these sensorial and emotional themes through textile art .
Saint Francis‘s prayer echoes in everyone’s heart, “Praise be to You, my Lord”. In his “Canticle” he praised God for the beauty which surrounds us and he felt he was called to protect all the creatures with joy and generosity.
Saint Francis of Assisi’s sensitivity is shared by Pope Bergoglio, as expressed even in the choice of his name as a guide and source of inspiration.
In his “Encyclical letter on our common home” Pope Francis shows us just how inseparable the bond is between concern for nature, justice for the poor, commitment to society, and interior peace. Everyone can collaborate to preserve the environment according to his or her own culture, experience and capacity.
It is an invitation to embrace these values that are the same throughout the centuries and a call to make the environment which surrounds us beautiful, sustainable and healthy so that we can admire with wonder “…our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs”.
All the patchwork and textile art techniques are admitted; framed works or works with fixed rigid parts that cannot be folded will not be accepted.
The contest is open to everyone.
Each participant can present ONE work only.
Members of the jury are not allowed to participate.
