Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon is offering a free session of Mental Health First Aid Certification. This course is funded by the Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation.

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What is MHFA Certification?
This 12-hour course goes deeper into mental health, self-care for the first aider, recovery and stigma. Participants will learn the ALGES actions and practice using them in scenarios.
Participants will also increase their knowledge about mental health, improve their confidence to provide support, lower stigma related to mental health and substance use, and enhance their overall mental health as Mental Health First Aiders.
Participants will be required to complete a short assessment to confirm their understanding of MHFA concepts and skills in
order to become certified. This certification is valid for 3 years.
The session will take place at CMHA Vernon & District, 3100 28 Avenue in downtown Vernon.
