Watercolor Basics
Watercolor is a unique and fun medium that requires some knowledge of how it reacts to water and other substances. Many times, it paints itself! You will learn some basic techniques that you can use to develop your skills and create your own watercolor art, bookmarks, or gift tags.

Take a step-by-step approach to learn basic watercolor techniques, including:

Values & Hues
Control of water
Color Mixing – learn to mix with primaries
Brushstrokes – quality of line doing leaves
Washes – flat and graded, transparent layering
Charging paint into wet
Wet on Wet techniques
Dry Brushing
Using Salt for texture
Splattering
Whites – how to reserve whites, or us white gouache
Paint simple Flowers and leaves – using brush techniques

Final project – Paint a simple vase of flowers using learned techniques
In the final 30 minutes, we will create a vase of flowers as a method of using what we learned in this class using shapes and simple brush strokes.
