The USD Black Student Union is hosting Julian Beaudion, candidate of U.S. Senate and Terrence Davis, candidate of SD Secretary of State for an evening of candid discussion.
Julian Beaudion is a former South Dakota State Trooper, community leader, and owner of a family restaurant in Sioux Falls. He spent 13 years on the Highway Patrol, covering thousands of miles to keep South Dakotans safe. While in uniform, Julian organized the state’s largest peaceful march after George Floyd’s M**der and mentored new officers in de escalation and outreach. Later, he and his wife opened their family restaurant. That work led him to cofound a nonprofit hub that guides underserved entrepreneurs through red tape. He and Inkka live in Sioux Falls with their three daughters and their sheepadoodle, Benjiet. As a candidate for the United States Senate, Julian is determined to safegaurd Medicaid and Medicare, education, veterancs, and building an economy where every South Dakotan-urban, rural, or reservation resident-can thrive.
Terrence Davis was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois and previously served as a police officer and a state trooper in Tenessee and South Dakota. He overcame obstacles of homelessness and navigating a low-income environment, but persevered to obtain his bachelor's in Criminal Justice and master's degree in Public Policy, and is currently seeking his doctorate in Law and Policy. He is a husband and a father, and enjoys spending time with his family, reading, traveling, or caring for their pet chicken. Terrence is commited to honoring South Dakota's values of safety, community, and hard work with dedication and humility. He is running for Secretary of State to serve with transparency, protect voting rights, and ensure the systems that uphold democracy for everyone.
