During Vandalia’s Grande Levee celebration, the Fayette County Art Connection invites you to experience artistry carved from tradition on the beautiful West Lawn of the Vandalia Statehouse.

The Grande Levee Woodcarvers Show 2026 will feature handcrafted works competing in seven ribbon classes:

? Animals
? Human
? Nature
? Spoons & Bowls
? Walking Sticks
✨ Abstract / Ornamental
? Pyrography

Visitors will vote by ballot for ribbon winners in all seven classes, as well as cast a vote for the coveted People’s Choice Award. Every attendee has the opportunity to help decide which carvings take home the honors.

Balloting will take place throughout the day, with ribbons awarded at 3:30 PM.

From finely detailed wildlife to beautifully burned pyrography designs, this outdoor showcase celebrates craftsmanship, creativity, and community in the very place where Illinois history was shaped.

Bring the family, stroll the lawn, meet the artists, and be part of the judging.
