- **Event Description**: Fayette County 4-H invites you to join our Astronomy Club!!

The Fayette County 4-H Astronomy Club invites budding astronomers and star enthusiasts to explore the universe this spring. Participants will enjoy activities like stargazing, building telescopes, and learning about planets and constellations. Join for fun, education, and the chance to make lasting friendships while deepening your understanding of space. 

Club meetings will consist of five lessons designed to teach youth more about a particular field of astronomy, led by amateur astronomy Randy Harrison. Some examples of lesson topics are: constellations and how to locate them, how to use Astronomy tools, locations on the Moon, and beginner rocketry. Open to youth ages 8 - 18. Register by March 17th in order to participate. Enrollment in this Special Interest (SPIN) 4-H Club will grant participants the opportunity to participate in county 4-H events and other SPIN clubs at no extra cost. And will grant you the opportunity to exhibit at the 4-H General Projects Show on Friday, July 9th.  

When: Tuesday, March 24th, 31st, April 7th, 14th, and 21st from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. 
Astronomy Night: Friday, April 24th from 7:30 - 9 pm. Club members will have exclusive access to the club telescope during this time. 
Where: Family YMCA of Fayette County. 710 Rock Island Ave., Vandalia, IL
Cost: Free with 4-H enrollment! Non-4-H members will pay a one-time fee of $10.
