RCMA returns to close out your summer with dancing, inspiration, community, and more!
Featuring…
Anaïs Sékiné
Anaïs has been jazz dancing since 2005, teaching locally and internationally since 2008,
training new talents, performing, and winning numerous competitions in North America.
Anaïs was an instructor at RCMA 2016, and we’re so happy to welcome her back this year.
-------
Kofi Artiabah
For Kofi, the world is just one big dance floor. He can be seen dancing up a storm wherever and whenever the music moves him - that's pretty much everywhere and all the time! If you were at RCMA last year, you remember Kofi’s infectious joy and enthusiastic shouts on the dance floor. We knew you’d be delighted to see him again this year.
------
Todd Yannacone
Todd has taught Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag, Charleston, Vernacular Jazz, and other jazz era dances both nationally and abroad since he was 16. He has worked with dance and music legends alike - from Frankie Manning to Aretha Franklin - has won too many competitions to list, and was a member of the acclaimed dance troupe, the Silver Shadows.
We were excited to welcome Todd for RCMA 2013, and we are overjoyed to have him return this year!
--------
Hyunjung Choi
Hyunjung is a Swing dancer, instructor and choreographer. Having majored in Korean traditional dance and enjoyed various dances such as dance sport and ballet, she came across swing dance in 2005, and instantly became fascinated by the dance. I was in talks with Hyunjung to come to RCMA in January 2014, back when I was running two (!) RCMAs a year (one in January; one in early September). Hyunjung was electrifying Swing dancers around the world with her unique style and energy, and I was super excited to have her come to Vancouver. But then life (mostly in the form of a toddler) got in the way, and I elected not to run the winter RCMA that year (or indeed ever again). So I am deeply honoured to welcome her to Vancouver for the first time this year!

Doug Barber
Doug grew up listening to his father play ragtime piano but only started dancing in his 40’s when he took his first Lindy hop class with Eric Shaw. Since then he’s become an avid social dancer who’s as interested in Solo Jazz improvising as he is in partner dancing.
--------
Damian Cade
Damian grew up in a household infused with jazz and is descended from jazz musicians. He has spent his adult life in the swing and tap dance communities- researching, listening, performing, teaching, and celebrating.
--------
Lucy Falkner
Lucy discovered Lindy hop in 1999, and has since travelled extensively to dance, train, and teach. She has taken up numerous other dances (West African, Tap, Contemporary Jazz, Ballet, Burlesque, Broadway Jazz, and various contemporary Street Dances), all more or less in service to her first love: Lindy hop.
