Students will learn to observe light, atmosphere, proportion, composition, and perspective while working on location. Instruction will include techniques for simplifying natural forms and developing confident line and value relationships. Suitable for beginners and continuing students alike, this class encourages careful observation, personal expression, and a deeper connection with the landscape through drawing. Students should bring water to drink and /or snacks if needed and something portable to sit on like an outdoor folding chair, a cushion or blanket. Also umbrellas depending on weather.Meeting Location: Strathcona Park on Raymur Ave. Across from article head-office at 1010 Raymur Ave.About the ArtistPilar immigrated to Canada from Bolivia as a child. She studied at The University of Victoria where she double majored in Visual Arts and History of Art. She pursued further studies at the former Vancouver Art Academy, at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, U.S.A. and at the Aristides Classical Atelier. Come early and make a full day of it by visiting the neighbouring Strathcona Blocks Party from 12:00–5:00 PM on the 800 block of East Hastings, featuring local businesses, free activities, and live performances before settling in for the concert and evening festivities.This is workshop is part of the vibrant celebration of visual and performing arts of the 6th annual Eastside Arts Festival, where creativity knows no bounds.
