In this immersive one-day course, you’ll learn:

• The basics of beatmatching and mixing
• How to build your first DJ set from scratch

Info: Meet your instructors, intro to the day, and overview of the equipment we'll be using (CDJ-800s, basic DJ mixer, and PA system setup).

Info: Learn about channel faders, crossfader, EQ knobs (hi/mid/low), gain structure, master volume, and how sound flows from the DJ gear to the speakers.

Info: Step-by-step: building the full setup from scratch — connecting CDJs, mixer, power, and speakers. Learn how to troubleshoot sound issues and avoid common setup mistakes.

Info: Students take turns doing a full gear setup and teardown. Learn-by-doing with support from instructors.

Info: Now that you're wired in — learn how to cue up a track and perform your first simple mix using the crossfader and CDJ transport controls.

Info: Quick review of the day, what to expect in tomorrow’s Intermediate class, and tips for renting gear from Long & McQuade to keep practicing.
