This is an OPEN CALL for black DJs

🎛️ Spots are limited 🎛️

To sign up to play a 30 min set, email ZWFzdHNpZGVzcG90bGlnaHRzIHwgZ21haWwgISBjb20= with the following info:

• Subject line: your DJ name + OPEN DECKS Feb 27th
• What’s your name, your DJ name and either instagram or soundcloud?
• How long have you been DJing?
• What genres would you like to play at this night?
• What gear do you use to DJ? If controller, will you be bringing your own? We have in house DJ gear available also.
• Have you DJ’ed at a venue before? If so, where?
• Mention if you've applied at previous Birdhouse open decks events! We will prioritize folks who have applied before & not gotten to play.

DJ applications submissions to DJ this event are open for Black, mixed Black, and Afro-Indigenous folks. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to come out and dance!

*Queer and trans DJs will be prioritized for this night.

All DJs will receive a $50 honorarium. And the option of practice time at Birdhouse!

Applications close Feb 23rd Due to demand we will not be able to host every DJ, but we will respond to all applications regardless.

This event is being held on the stolen, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. As we live and organize queer space as settlers on these lands, we have an obligation to continuously work to repair harms perpetrated upon Indigenous communities, presently and historically. The Birdhouse strives to work with and give back to Indigenous communities in all that we do. Partial proceeds from this event will be donated to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.

ACCESSIBILITY:

Moving and flashing lights at this event. Entrance is ground level through double doors with a wheelchair accessible entrance/exit (double doors 70 in. wide, single door is 35 in). There are no stairs or steps throughout the venue. All washrooms are all genders and wheelchair accessible washroom on site.
