Grapes integrates effortlessly into diverse production and performance workflows, working with a wide range of 3D audio processors and DAWs as well as live setups. Available both as a VST3 plugin and a standalone application, it offers a creative and fast workflow for choreographing sound objects, enabling a more intuitive and expressive approach to spatial composition across music, film, theater, and the arts. As an introduction, Felix will present the programs and activities of ZiMMT and the Spatial Audio Network Europe (SANE), and share insights from his own work in 3D audio field recording, composition, and mixing. We made it tangible - as sound, space, and embodied experience. "Lost in Liquid Noise" is an immersive audio-driven experience based on two Arctic expeditions (2023 & 2024). It reveals the hidden sonic and visual dimensions of climate change - from glacier ruptures to underwater ecosystems beneath frozen seas. All field recordings were captured by Felix Deufel during two on-site Arctic expeditions, embedding direct presence in the landscapes that form the basis of the work.https://notanumber.space/lost-in-liquid-noise/About "If We Vanish:"Sound artists Nikhil Nagaraj, Felix Deufel and their documentation team Phil Jungschlaeger and Xenia Gorodnia have embarked on a 40-day expedition to map the sounds of some of the last pristine places in India before they no longer exist. "If We Vanish" deals with the issue of noise pollution and its impacts on the environment, society, and health in a unique way. As humans take over the planet, the soundscapes all around us are changing, with profound impacts on health and wellbeing. Just as the city lights wash out the stars, the broad natural soundscapes that make up our world are being submerged by human noise. More than 35,000 animals and plants around the world are now considered as endangered. This project aims to show why it is critical to preserve the remaining natural soundscapes and empower us to hear the world's ecosystem differently.About Felix Deufel:Felix Deufel is a sound artist and sound ecologist with a focus in spatial sound, spatial hearing, and the role of soundscapes in society and the environment. In his field research and expeditions, Deufel explores current environmental issues relating to ecosystems and natural phenomena and to the influence of humans as a significant geological force in the so-called Anthropocene. To this end, he investigates the acoustics and soundscapes of ecosystems and landscapes in historically and geologically significant places such as high mountain ranges in the Himalayas, tropical and subtropical rainforests, the Greenland ice sheet and the Arctic underwater world. Deufel is the founder of Not a Number Studio, which specializes in 3D audio productions and is dedicated to the development of the 3D audio software Grapes 3D audio control. In 2020, Deufel founded the Center for Immersive Media Art, Music and Technology (ZiMMT) in Leipzig. ZiMMT was born out of Deufel's fascination with spatial sound technologies and in response to a lack of opportunities to engage with them artistically.
