The death and rebirth of Covenant Festival is upon us! A new era will mark a decade of existence with a suitable glyph, as COVENANT FESTIVAL X promises to be the most ambitious black and death metal festival that the Vancouver, BC collective has undertaken. To celebrate the milestone, the Covenant has summoned 18 rabidly underground forces from around the world to participate in the chaos and revelry.
Leading the Covenant Festival X procession is Vancouver's own legendary gods of war BLASPHEMY, followed in lock-step by a legion of the finest bands that the current extreme metal underground has to offer: Europeans THY DARKENED SHADE, MORTUUS, DEATH WORSHIP, SHAARIMOTH, and BLOODY VENGEANCE; Americans BLACK CURSE, SPIRIT POSSESSION, IMPURE, and ORDEALS; and Canada's MITOCHONDRION, WORMWITCH, SORGUINAZIA, REVERSED, AMPHISBAENA, LYSERGIC, OCCISOR, and OSTROM. With many bands performing in Canada for the first time ever, this will be a gathering unlike anything yet to take place in this doomed city.
Our regional tradition has firmly established a platform and location for true die-hards of the underground to proliferate. All forms of commercial crowd-pleasing were jettisoned long ago in favour of a self-satisfying thirst for metal extremism. Covenant has NO SPONSORS and NO FINANCIAL SUPPORT: We are a 100% DIY collective driven by maniacal fanatics, born and reborn out of passion and obsession.
