Contra Dance Saturday, December 20

Kindle the spirit of Christmas with dance at St James Community Square, 3214 West 10th Ave. Vancouver BC.

Band: Teapot Tempest: Michael Burnyeat - fiddle, Joe Bourchier - guitar, Russell Shumsky - vibes & djembé.

Callers:  Maureen Collier and Angela Absalom

Contradance 7:30-10:30 

Beginner's Orientation 7:00

5:30-7:00 free contra tunes jam session.

'Tis the season... Please bring treats to share. Festive attire encouraged.

Caroling at the break.

$20 first-timers, $15 students with ID, and after-the-break; children free; CASH only

Dances taught on the spot, newcomers always welcome, no partner needed.

Soft-soled shoes, light clothing, and water bottles recommended. Please come fragrance-free.

Musicians welcomed for a free pre-dance contradance tunes jam 5:30-7:00pm! Relaxed tempos, tunes from the Portland Collection books plus other dance favourites.

Teapot Tempest plays contemporary and traditional tunes with infectious rhythm and passion!

Vancouver's own Maureen Collier's heartfelt calling and community connection sets the course for a totally fun evening!

Angela has been part of the Contra dance community since 1985 when it started in Vancouver and was a founding member of English Country Dance in Vancouver in 1997. She's a longtime dancer but a novice caller, wanting to give back to the dance community after years of great dancing.
