Emissions from oil and gas, particularly the oilsands, have erased gains in transportation and buildings. The report warns that reaching Canada's targets would require unprecedented annual reductions of 40 megatonnes, something current policies cannot deliver. With climate policies being rolled back and extreme events like wildfires, floods, and toxic air becoming routine, 2025 marks a critical crossroads.
