The Durning House Pop-Up Dinner with Heather and Peyton

The Durning House Bed and Breakfast in Van Alstyne, Texas, was a cherished local landmark with deep historical roots. Originally built after the Civil War by Charlie Durning’s great-grandfather, the home stood as a testament to postbellum Southern architecture and family legacy. In the late 1980s, the property was lovingly restored and transformed into a bed and breakfast by Brenda Hix, her partner Sherry Heath and her family, officially opening its doors in July 1989. For decades, it welcomed guests with antique charm, hearty meals, and warm hospitality, becoming a beloved gathering spot for locals and travelers alike. Though it closed in the late 2010s as the family retired, the Durning House remains fondly remembered for its role in preserving Van Alstyne’s heritage and offering a cozy retreat steeped in history.

The dinner is first come first served and each plate costs $15. It is a meal that you will not want to miss!
