- **Event Description**: The National Weather Service Chicago, Northern Indiana and Indianapolis offices have partnered with IDHS District 1 to present an Outdoor Event Planning and Monitoring Seminar this spring. This interactive in-person session will provide an overview of the key elements of an outdoor event hazardous weather plan along with the tools and support services available from the NWS to support event related public safety decisions. If you attended last year, you will recognize the format again this year, but all new weather scenarios have been incorporated along with some new content. If you are new to the seminar, the session will be a combination of presentation material and interactive small group breakout sessions. We look forward to seeing you this spring!

Why should you attend?

You’ll gain an awareness of NWS products available to you. Learn why having an event weather safety plan is important. Learn how to calculate the time needed to alert and evacuate or shelter attendees of an outdoor event. See the importance of having a designated weather liaison to support planning and decision making at an event. You'll get to put your knowledge of NWS products, services, and Event Ready tools to the test as we walk you through a couple real-world examples.
