The 2nd Ethiopian Film Festival in Malta is happening in December. Two Ethiopian movies will be screened on December 10 & 11, 2025. This awaited event brings international and diaspora attention to the Ethiopian Film Industry. For Ethiopian filmmakers, it's a chance to showcase and penetrate the international market.

This is a story of Gifti, a young girl who grew up in a small town in Ethiopia called Wolenchiti. She was raised by her stepmother in Addis when she fell in love with the neighbour's son, Berhanu. Then she gets abducted by the son of a nobleman man Bonsa, and she eventually was forced to marry him. In his despair, Berhanu's attempt at revenge goes wrong. The community turns to the traditional Oromo Geda system to resolve the complex interplay of love, crime, and the injustice women endure.
