This audiovisual project is inspired by misophonia, a neurobehavioural condition marked by intense emotional reactions, such as irritation, disgust, or rage, toward specific everyday sounds.

These may include chewing, breathing, sniffing, or other seemingly mundane noises that typically go unnoticed by most people. For those with misophonia, such triggers can provoke an overwhelming fight-or-flight response, leading to distress and an urgent need to escape.

The work aims to immerse the visitors in this commonly misunderstood sensory experience by creating a deliberately discomforting soundscape composed of common misophonia triggers. These sounds are paired with mixed-media animation, amplifying the emotional and psychological intensity of the condition.

Rather than following a conventional three-act narrative, the piece is structured as a visceral, emotional journey, inviting the audience to inhabit the perspective of someone living with misophonia. Through this, the project seeks to raise awareness and evoke empathy by translating an internal struggle into a shared sensory encounter.
