Speaker Series: The Vallejo Family Letters - A Historic Presentation

The Vallejo family was one of the most influential forces in early California, shaping the political, cultural, and economic landscape during the state’s turbulent shift from Mexican to American rule. Their legacy across the North Bay remains unmatched.



On January 11, 2026 at 3:00 PM, award-winning authors Rose Marie Beebe & Robert Senkewicz will present their decade-long research at Saint Peter’s Chapel on Mare Island, sharing the story of Mariano G. Vallejo and his family through more than 180 letters written between 1846–1888.



This program offers a rare, intimate look at how Californios lived through dramatic change—annexation, identity, and survival—during one of the most defining periods in California’s history.
