Welcome to an artist talk by Sanna Håkans, current exhibitor at Fringe Gallery, and to meet our new resident Taylor Smith. Sanna Håkans will share insights into her artistic practice, presenting her works, materials, and process. She will also speak about the concepts behind her current exhibition at Fringe. We will also warmly welcome our new resident Taylor Smith, joining us through the Nordic Analogue Network residencies. She will introduce her practice and share selected works. We are very glad to bring the community together to meet her. Sanna Håkans (b. 1994, Finland) holds a Master’s degree from the Royal Institute of Art and is based in Stockholm. Through the arrangement of sculptures, found objects, light, and photography, she creates spatial situations in close dialogue with the architecture of the exhibition space. Her work engages with materialities of concealment and unveiling. Through subtle shifts in light, opacity, and form—such as folds in collapsing curtains—she reflects on time’s inevitable movement toward loss and transformation. Taylor Smith (b. 1993) is an American-born visual artist with French citizenship, based in Oslo. She approaches the climate crisis as a crisis of perception, feeling, and action. Her work seeks to deconstruct boundaries between scientific and artistic knowledge. Taylor holds an MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, a Master’s degree in Cultural Communication from the École du Louvre in Paris, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Painting and Art History from Boston University. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris and Atelier Nord in Oslo. Free entry!
