Deloria (Dakota descent), highlighting his research and teaching on the social, cultural, and political histories of the relations among American Indian peoples and the United States.Philip J. Deloria opens our Practice of Citizenship series talking on his past and current work and reflecting on questions of Native “citizenship.”Event Schedule, October 1, 2026:7:30 pm – 9:00 pm: Danforth Distinguished Lecture with Philip Deloria, Knight Hall's Emerson Auditorium9:00 pm – 10:00 pm: Reception for all ticketed audience members in Knight Hall's Frick ForumDoors will open at 7 pm, and we encourage you to arrive early to allow time for walk from parking and ticket checks at the door.Ticketing: Although this is a free event open to all, seats are limited and tickets will be required to attend the program and the reception immediately following. Emerson Auditorium accommodates general admission seating; your ticket does not designate a specific seat. Each attendee will need their own ticket in their name. Deloria (Dakota descent) is the Leverett Saltonstall Professor of History at Harvard University, where his research and teaching focus on the social, cultural and political histories of the relations among American Indian peoples and the United States. He is the author of several books, including  (Yale University Press, 1998),  (University Press of Kansas, 2004),  (University of California Press, 2017), with Alexander Olson, and  (University of Washington Press, 2019), as well as two co-edited books and numerous articles and chapters. Deloria received the Ph.D. in American Studies from Yale University in 1994, taught at the University of Colorado, and then, from 2001 to 2017, at the University of Michigan, before joining the faculty at Harvard in January 2018. Deloria was a long-serving trustee of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian.
