During the Holocaust, approximately 30,000 Jews joined or formed armed resistance groups as a last resort to survive. Many of them were ordinary teenagers who escaped the ghettos and work camps created for their extermination. Forced to hide in the forests and mountains, these Jewish partisans fought back.

The Jewish Partisan Educational Foundation (JPEF) produced “Foundations of Resistance,” a new curriculum for grades 6-12 that teaches students why they should and how they can resist antisemitism and hate, using the Jewish partisans’ experiences and lessons.

“Foundations of Resistance” features interactive webquests that teach students to act with increased empathy, recognize and call out antisemitism, develop a positive leadership identity, and resist antisemitism both systemically and in their everyday lives. This workshop will prepare educators to bring this interactive and impactful curriculum to their students.
