Emergency! Save Our Health Care

Emergency! Save Our Health Care is a demonstration in support of our local healthcare workers and in opposition to proposed cuts to MediCal that threaten both providers and patients. Participants will fan out along the south side of E Perkins St at evening rush hour to remind decision‑makers that accessible, quality healthcare is a human right, and to show that we stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder with those who deliver it.

On July 4th, President Trump signed the budget reconciliation package known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes approximately $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts over the next decade, and is expected to strip coverage from millions of Americans. Over 40% of Mendocino County residents rely on Medicaid – known in California as MediCal. Cuts to these services would directly impact our community’s ability to access essential medical care.

“We face a terrible cascade of events,” explains Indivisible Ukiah spokesperson Janet Rosen. “Without MediCal reimbursement, our providers can’t pay their bills. We risk losing our clinics and hospital. If this happens, everything from emergency care to labor and delivery will just disappear.”

Indivisible Ukiah brings neighbors together to defend civil rights, due process, and participatory democracy through peaceful demonstrations and direct action. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolence. We remind all participants to ignore provocations.
