Professional photographer David Metcalf will be taking you outside Indonesia this month with a selection of photographs and stories from Japan.

His photographs convey the beauty, culture and essence of this captivating country, and he is excited about the opportunity to share his experiences.

Starting on the northern island of Hokkaido and finishing on the most southern islands of Okinawa you will be in for a visual treat of images from many beautiful and historical places in Japan taken at different times of the year.

The talk and photographs will cover such interesting topics and places such as the Ainu indigenous people of Hokkaido and their sacred lands,Daisetsuzan National Park with its soaring mountain peaks thick forests and cascading waterfalls,Kamikochi National Park, one of the most pristine parks in Japan ,Mount Fuji Japan’s iconic Mountain and highest peak, some of the most beautiful temples and gardens in Kyoto, the rich, unique Geisha culture and traditions , Miyajima island, its back roads and temples, the Kii Peninsula, its Misty Mountains, and its ancient pilgrimage routes, Shinto ceremonies, Historic Castles, Shikoku Island a real hidden gem that attracts very few visitors, the charming town of Takayama and the Matsuri cultural festival.

This presentation will be suitable for people thinking about travelling to Japan, and want to know more about the best places to visit and the right time of the year, those that have been to Japan but want to relive their experiences through the photographs and those interested to learn more about the fascinating culture and history of Japan.
