Difficulty:
5.9 miles | ~2,400 ft elevation gain
You’ll need to be confident with this distance, this elevation, and a steady 45-minute mile pace. Winter conditions add challenge, so come prepared for snow, cold, and variable terrain.

Winter Gear:
Winter gear is required. A detailed gear list will be provided to ensure you stay warm, safe, and comfortable.

Pre-Hike Zoom:
All participants will attend a mandatory Zoom meeting to review:
• Trail logistics
• Required gear
• Winter safety basics
• Fueling + hydration strategies

Winter hiking is pure magic, quiet forests, crisp air, stunning views, and of course… summit hot chocolate (HC!). We hope to see you out there! 

Full gear checklist below, gear is required. Feel free to reach out if you need help borrowing or finding something.

Clothing & Layers
• Medium-size day pack (25–50L) with hip belt and chest strap
• Beanie
• Neck buff
• Moisture-wicking or wool sports bra
• Base layer top (150–250 weight, synthetic or wool — no cotton)
• Fleece upper layer
• Puffy jacket (synthetic, down, or other insulating layer)
• Lightweight rain or wind jacket
• Moisture-wicking leggings, fleece-lined leggings, or medium-weight hiking pants
• Wool socks (2–3 pairs)
• Hiking boots or waterproof trail shoes
• Shin gaiters (suggested)
• Microspikes
• Hiking poles
• Lightweight gloves or liners + thick warm gloves
*Possible snow shoes needed!! 

Gear & Essentials
• Hiking poles with snow baskets
• Headlamp
• Sunglasses (optional)
• Pee cloth or pee kit
• Water bladder or bottles (2–3L total)
• Sunblock (optional)
• Electrolytes or salt chews
• Small towel or bandana (optional)
• Small medical kit
• Trail snacks
• Ziplock baggie for trash
• Small pad to sit on (optional)
• Thermos with warm liquid (tea, coffee, hot chocolate)
• Map of trail — AllTrails downloaded AND a paper map

Snacks
	•	Trail snacks (aim for ~100 calories per hour; fatty foods like nuts help keep the body warm)

Shared Emergency Gear
I’ll bring these: just leave space in your pack for one shared item:
