- **Event Description**: Hey everyone this year is the 3rd annual Kevin DeVries poker run in honor of my father and his twin brother. Last year exactly a year and 4 days later Kevins Twin brother passed and joined him in his eternal home. Please come join us at Gunslingers Bar Twinbrooks, SD July 11th @ 10am start is when purchase of the poker cards will take place. Take off is 11 am. When we all return back at 6 everyone will draw their cards. Also there will be food, a silent auction, bracelets and t-shirts for sale. In honor of my father let's ride! Kickstands up at 11.

 My father suffered a massive stroke in 2006 which left him paralyzed. He resided at St. William’s Care Center for 17 1/2 years until his passing. He suffered tremendous pain yet he never lost his faith, he was ready to go to heaven. His family finds comfort in knowing that Kevin is pain free and walking again. He always had a dream of owning and riding his own Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Beings he had no ability to move his entire left side he never got to fulfill his dream of riding. 


Kevin’s twin brother my uncle Kim DeVries, passed away exactly a year and 4 days later and found his eternal home with the Lord. He was ready to be reunited with his best friend and brother, Kevin. Both are now free from pain and able to walk again. Kim endured many years of suffering. His health had been declining for quite some time, especially after the lose of my dad, Kevin. He had been battling dementia, with no recollection that his brother was in heaven. In his final weeks and months, he frequently asked to see Kevin. He contracted pneumonia and was admitted to Aberdeen Hospital for treatment. Exactly a year after my dad's passing, on May 31, 2024, he was transferred to Milbank Hospital. There, the medical team discovered what appeared to be pneumonia again. He struggled with swallowing, which led to complications in his lungs, and eventually, his kidneys failed. In the last five days of his life, he was unconscious and unable to communicate with us. However, we find solace in knowing that he is no longer suffering or in pain and can walk freely without discomfort. We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone for their support and love shown to our family.

So by continuing an annual poker run, in memory of him and his brother would be truly special to the family and I. As well as supporting other family’s who too have struggled through this.
