Don’t miss one of Australia's most authentic rural crime fiction authors in conversation!Michael Burge is a journalist and author who lives at Deepwater on Ngarrabul Country in the New England region of NSW. His debut novel, Tank Water, and Dirt Trap (both from MidnightSun Publishing, Adelaide) are a rural noir storytelling cycle about homophobia and justice in the bush. An earlier memoir, Questionable Deeds: Making a stand for equal love (High Country Books), lifted the lid on familial and institutional homophobia during Australia’s marriage equality campaign. Michael’s article ‘Backwards to Bourke: Bulldust About Gays in the Bush’ drew on his research about rural gay-hate crimes and was published internationally in The Journal of Australian Studies. Michael has written and edited for the Guardian, Fairfax Media and Australian Community Media. A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art, he is a board member of BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival. While in Adelaide, Michael will be appearing at the Australian Short Story Festival.
