- **Event Description**: Join us for Paws & Claws Community Day at the Douglas County Animal Shelter on June 7th from 10 AM - 12 PM! This special event is a fantastic opportunity for 4-H members (including parents and volunteers) and TASK mentors and mentees to come together for a day filled with fun, learning, and community building. 

TASK (Trust, Appreciation, and Support with Kindness) is a new mentorship program in Douglas County that matches individual Douglas County youth with an adult mentor within our community with the goal of empowering our youth to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their well-being and potential. 

4-H and TASK are partnering on this event to combine their shared commitment to empowering youth through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community engagement that foster confidence, compassion, and lifelong skills.

Activities may include dog walking and learning to care for cats and dogs, depending on the weather and the animals at the shelter. Whether you're a TASK mentor or mentee wanting an activity to do together, a 4-H member eager to dive into the cat or dog project, or a volunteer excited to network and meet new people, this event has something for everyone.
