Twice each year, thousands of Golden Eagles follow an ancient flyway through Alberta's front ranges—a route that has been used for more than 11,000 years as these magnificent raptors travel between their northern breeding grounds and southern wintering habitats.Join The Path Less Taken for an unforgettable exploration of one of North America's greatest wildlife spectacles. Experience a day of adventure, storytelling, and interpretive discoveries as we learn about these incredible birds while hiking the spectacular ridgeline of Wasootch Ridge.After a short but steep climb, we will ascend to the "cruising altitude" of a Golden Eagle and follow the rugged, undulating ridgeline high above the valleys below. Along the way, you'll enjoy sweeping mountain vistas, learn about the ecology and migration of these powerful raptors, and pause to enjoy a well-earned snack surrounded by some of Kananaskis Country's most breathtaking scenery.Location & Logistics:This excursion takes place on Wasootch Ridge, located along Highway 40 in Kananaskis Country.Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and be prepared to hike up to 11 km with approximately 700 metres of elevation gain.
