Guanapo Gorges Exploration

Deep in the forest of the heights of Guanapo, a few miles from the quiet, almost undisturbed village, lies the Guanapo River. Join us as we navigate the trail through abandoned cocoa and tonka bean estates until we arrive to the top of the Guanapo River where the real fun begins! We wade, swim, walk and jump through a series of magnificent pools buried in towering gorges formed over centuries of water action eroding the rocks and creating these gigantic, picturesque gorges.

A booking is required for all Palance868 events.

o Rating: 4 (check hike ratings below)
o Intensity: Moderate
o Duration (Circuit): 2 hours
o Terrain Description: This hike will be done as a circuit which starts with a trail leading through the forest up to the top of the Guanapo River. Trail is mostly undulating with the last part being a moderate uphill, the trail is inter-dispersed with muddy and narrow parts along the way. Here we begin the river trek (at this point, it is mandatory that all hikers don their lifejackets which will be provided to you) to make our way through pools and gorges. There is an almost unavoidable 7-10 ft jump into a 20 feet pool before we proceed further through the gorges. If you have a morbid fear of water, swimming or heights this hike is not suitable for you. There is mandatory swimming involved in this hike and your entire body will get wet. Be sure to walk with some fresh water in your vehicle to rinse off after the hike.
