Through diverse media, these artists confront the inequalities deeply rooted in the art world environment, address the systemic issues unique to women in the arts, and reframe the narratives historically used to confine or silence women. Each artist brings a unique perspective shaped by their individual experiences facing the expectations of “women’s art” as well as society more broadly during their careers, with works created for this exhibit revealing to the audience what only "Women’s Work" can: our perspective, our lens, our challenges, and our accomplishments. Works include photography, printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, assemblage, and more. About the Curator: Claudette Torneden is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans photography, painting, drawing, and printmaking. Her background includes education at the University of New Orleans and Memphis College of Art, as well as work experience in illustration, advertising design, and journalism. Her work has been featured in various publications, exhibited nationwide, and is held in multiple private and corporate collections across the country.
