This workshop will give you the tools needed to plan trips, navigate to springs, complete the survey, and return home safely.Topics covered will include: reading maps and satellite images, navigation aids on desktop computers and smartphones, making tracks and reading elevations and contours on maps, planning backcountry vs. trail walks, etc. There will be a brief overview of the Spring Seeker survey and a discussion of safety concerns. With these skills, you’ll be ready to volunteer with confidence.Participants should bring a smartphone and a laptop if they have one, or access will be given to the desktop computers in the SIA office. Also, please bring a water bottle or any snacks/dinner you would want to eat. The workshop will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and run for about two hours.More details will be sent about a week in advance to registered participants.
