LOCATION:            

Tucson Woman’s Club, 6245 E. Bellevue Street, Tucson, AZ 85712.

 

DESCRIPTION:      

4-round Swiss tournament in 4 sections (Championship, U1600, U1200, and Scholastic (K-8 U1000 & K-6 U500). Ratings based on August Supplement. Unrated players must register for the Championship section. Unrated scholastic (K-8 or K-6) players may register for the Championship or the appropriate Scholastic section. Everyone is welcome! The event is open to players of all genders, ages, and skill levels (the venue name just reflects the club’s history).

EQUIPMENT:         

Players are responsible for boards/set, scoresheets, pencils/pens, bringing/setting their own clocks.

 

TIME CONTROL:   

Time control: G/45;d5.

 

REGISTRATION:   

US Chess membership is required for all sections. Annual membership is available on uschess.org. If you have not joined US Chess or renewed your membership by August 14, please renew onsite through SACA before the 1st round. Players that cannot show proof of paid membership before the 1st round will not be paired.

Online registration closes Friday, 8/14 at 7 pm.

Onsite registration: Saturday 8 am – 8:30 am. Registrations after 8:30 am may receive a ½ point bye for round 1 and be paired for round 2.

There will be a $5 processing fee for any refunds (must be requested before 8 pm Friday, 8/14).

 

ENTRY FEES:         

Championship: $35 if received by Thursday 8/6. $40 if after Thursday 8/6; or $45 at the site.

U1600: $30 if received by Thursday 8/6. $35 if after Thursday 8/6; or $40 at the site.

U1200: $25 if received by Thursday 8/6. $30 if after Thursday 8/6; or $35 at the site.

Scholastic (K8 U1000 & K6 U500) Entry: $20 if received by Thursday 8/6. $25 if after Thursday 8/6, or $30 at the site.

Play up fee: $10. You may play up one section only.

 

SCHEDULE:            

Rounds: 9am, 11am, 12:45pm, 2:30pm.

Please arrive by 8:45 am for pairings and announcements. There is no tournament check-in.

Byes: ½ point byes are available for all rounds if requested prior to start of round two.

 

PRIZES:                   

Prizes are 100% guaranteed!!

Championship Section: 1st, $120; 2nd, $80; 3rd, $50

Under 1600: 1st, $100; 2nd, $70; 3rd, $40; Best Under 1300, $30

Under 1200: Trophies to 1st-3rd

Scholastic (K8 U1000 & K6 U500): Trophies to 1st-3rd in each section.

Participation item for K6 U500 participants.

Unrated players are not eligible for under prizes.
