Barnaby and the Butcher write and perform music across the broadly defined genres of Alt Country and Americana. Their catalogue of originals is ever-expanding, and their uniquely-chosen covers include artists as wide ranging as Amos Lee, Indigo Girls, Lyle Lovett, Uncle Tupelo, Black Sabbath, Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Tragically Hip, Patty Griffin, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Chris Stapleton, and The SteelDrivers. Their sound is complex and powerful, tending towards Dark Country and Rock, while leaving room for the tender warmth of Butcher’s vocals and his often heartbreaking, and clever, lyrics.
Since 2021 they have released three studio albums, a live EP with corresponding music videos, and a live album recorded with an audience at Poe's Art House in downtown Tucson. They have opened for the Young Dubliners on numerous occasions, and on New Years Eve 2024 they opened for Los Lobos at the historic Fox Tucson Theatre.
