Die Wüste Welle Big Band wurde 2011 als erste Bigband eines Freien Radios in Deutschland (Community Radio) von Lothar Landenberger gegründet. Unter den Musikern sind Preisträger nationaler und internationaler Wettbewerbe – Musiker der Regionen Neckar-Alb/Stuttgart/Karlsruhe/Mannheim.
Die Bigband tritt auf mit Gesang, fünf Saxofonen, vier Trompeten, vier Posaunen, Piano/Keyboard, Gitarre, Bass, Drums, Percussion.
Leitung WW BIG BAND: Lothar Landenberger, Günter Flumm

Der Saxofonist Max Treutner (SWR Big Band) zählt zu den prägenden Stimmen der jungen europäischen Jazzszene. Die Nominierung für den Deutschen Jazzpreis und seine Kooperation mit der SWR Big Band markieren den Beginn einer Karriere, die durch internationale Ausstrahlung bestimmt ist.
Im Juli 2024 realisierte Treutner in New York sein Debütalbum „Zen Garden“. Die Aufnahme machte Treutner zum Shooting‑Star der jüngeren Generation. Bei der Auswahl für den Deutschen Jazzpreis 2026 wurde „Zen Garden“ als Debüt‑Album des Jahres nominiert.
