In recent times, his classes at the Coleman Centre for adults have proven very popular and are very well attended. Michael also teaches a range of instruments to children here in Tubbercurry during the year and leads a monthly session locally for children and young people, followed by a music session for adults.Michael has taught flute at the summer school in previous years before taking over the mantle more recently of the Mixed Melody Instruments Workshop for adults. Players of all levels are welcome to sign up for this class and can look forward to developing repertoire and technique while also enjoying the experience of music making in a group/session setting.Last but not least Michael is also the flute player for the Swallow’s Tail Céilí Band, one of Ireland’s top Céilí Bands and the band playing at the opening céilí of this year's South Sligo Summer School, an event not to be missed.Fiona DohertyFiona grew up in a musical family from Charlestown, Co. Mayo and learned her music from her father and grandfather, both fiddle players. She has been teaching music at all levels for over 30 years in the South Sligo area, including the South Sligo Summer School, and has played extensively abroad in Europe, Australia and U.S.A.In recent years Fiona has been teaching the Mixed Instrument class for Adults at the summer school, which has proven a very popular addition to our face-to-face programme. This workshop is mainly suitable for adults at an intermediate playing level.
