- **Event Description**: Yulia Chaplina, the Russian born concert pianist who performed last June so brilliantly in Mylor Church is returning to Cornwall to give a popular classical piano concert at Chycara House, Chyreen Lane, Carnon Downs on Thursday 26th February at 1930.  Yulia's programme features some well known and popular works and  will include

Mozart Piano Sonata k. 311 
Chopin Waltzes including "The Minute Waltz"
             Preludes including "The Raindrop Prelude"
Tchaikovsky:  The Seasons
Scriabin:  Prelude 

The concert hall at Chycara has a bar and a grand piano.  Doors open at 18.45 and there will be a concert of two halves.  

Described by International Piano Magazine as ‘with technical fluency and rich tonal shading reminiscent of the great Communist era artists such as Emil Gilels’ and held by Paul Badura-Skoda in ‘highest regard as a concert pianist’, Yulia is the winner of 7 international piano competitions. Since winning the First Prize & the Gold Medal in the prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians, she has performed regularly as a soloist in many of the world's finest venues, including the Wigmore Hall and the Southbank Centre in London, Berlin’s Philharmonie, the Grand Halls of the Moscow Conservatoire and the St. Petersburg Philharmonia, Bunka Kaikan Hall in Tokyo and many other concert halls.

Yulia’s solo CD of Russian Music, recorded by Champs Hill Records, was described by the American Record Guide as "....an outstanding disc and one I’ll return to often", adding that "Chaplin brings to her playing more than a lifetime of acquaintance with this music."

Yulia holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Arts (Berlin), Masters in Music & Fellowship from the RCM (London). Yulia received music coaching from Mstislav Rostropovitch, Andras Schiff, Mitsuko Uchida, Paul Badura-Skoda, David Waterman, Steven Isserlis, Thomas Adès and Liliya Zilberstein.
