Come explore "Dark Mountain" in the Uwharrie National Forest with "Uwharrie Lakes Region Trail Guide" author, Don Childrey.  At 11am, Mr. Childrey will meet participants the Jumping Off Rock Trailhead for a custom, 4 mile loop.  Dark Mountain is well-known for its dark, vast history, especially during the Civil War.  Learn about it as you go! This hike covers the highest peak in Montgomery County, and is rated moderate to somewhat strenuous at times.  The custom path is rocky, so sturdy hiking shoes are highly recommended. *Bring plenty of water and pack a lunch! Each hiker must provide their own water and food/snacks. Questions?
