# Event Details

- **Event Name**: 518 Craft Book Club - Worker City, Company Town
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 17 May, 2026 at 01:30 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: May’s theme is books about Troy! The book that won the poll is “Worker City, Company Town: Iron and Cotton Worker Protests in Troy and Cohoes” by Daniel Walkowitz.

For those who don’t know, Troy was where the very first all female Union started with Kate Mullany, an Irish American woman who worked at Collar City Laundry. The only National Historic Site in Troy is her house at the corner of Hoosick and 8th St. I’m going to put out a poll for when people might want to do a field trip to the museum as part of this months book club.

So please read about the very important local history of the workers in Troy and we will discuss on May 17th!
